Resident Evil 5 FAQ & Media .

General Information:

-Resident Evil 5 will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America on March 13th, 2009.
-As of 6/03/08, the game is 60% complete.
-Confirmed locations: Kijuju (village seen in the trailers), underground caverns/mine , ancient ruins, industrial area, a ship.
-Early in development, exposure to heat would cause Chris's aiming to suffer and he would hallucinate. This has been scaled back; his aim still suffers but he no longer hallucinates.
-For the PlayStation 3 version, aiming via SixAxis was considered at one point but it was deemed too imprecise and was scrapped.

Gameplay:
-The gameplay is nearly identical to that seen in RE4. The enemies in the game are infected with some sort of parasite similar to Las Plagas, but are able to survive in sunlight and attack through the mouth of their hosts. Like in RE4, these enemies will come in different froms, some weilding heavy weapons.

-Nearly 20 enemies can be displayed at once.

-"Real time" weapon switching was shown at the Captivate '08 demo, but it is uncertain if the feature will appear in the final game.

-Due to the number of enemies chasing you, avoiding combat and hiding will feature heavily in the game.

-The QTE events from RE4 will returned, but in a more refined way.

-The game features an online co-op mode where one player controls Chris and the other controls Sheva when the two are together; if they are forced to seperate then the second player will have to wait until Sheve is brought back. If either Chris or Sheva is killed, both players must restart at the last save point or checkpoint. If the second player leaves the game, the AI will take control of Sheva. The co-op mode can also be played offline; both characters will share one screen.

-The enemies drop ammo in addition to gold, insinuating that a merchant-like mechanic will return.

-When Chris is low on heath, if he is standing near Sheva she will partially restore his health.

-The game's inventory system has again be changed and is more akin to the restrictive inventory found in the earlier RE games. Each character has nine slots; three for weapons, three for healing items and three for items (most likely ammo); key items will probably still have their own slot as in RE4. Like in the Outbreak games, your inventory occurs in real-time; the game will not stop while you peruse your items. If the game has a wide variety of weapons as we are led to believe, item boxes or some form of storage system will most likely return to the game.
Characters/Enemies:

Plot:

Resident Evil 5 takes place ten years after the first Resident Evil. Chris Redfield , a former member of the now-defunct Special Tactics and Rescue Service and one of the sole survivors of "The Mansion Incident" now works for an agency known as the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance and is sent to Africa to investigate a possible biohazard outbreak. The game's plot will revolve around the origins of the Progenitor Virus, which was the springboard for Umbrella's bio-weapon experiments; longtime fans of the series will recall that this was the premise of the original vision of RE4 prior to its drastic change. Players will also experience what Chris was up to during the 10 years in between RE1 and RE5.

Chris Redfield: A former S.T.A.R.S. Alpha member and one of the few to survive the T-Virus outbreak at the Spencer Estate in 1998. Now working for the BSAA, Chris is sent to Africa to investigate a possible outbreak.

Sheva Alomar: A female who works for the West African branch of the BSAA, she provides support for Chris once the villagers revolt.

Mysterious Woman : Her identity has yet to be confirmed; it is widely speculated that she is Sherry Birkin, the daughter of the now-deceased Umbrella scientist William Birkin and one of the few to survive the destruction of Raccoon City in Resident Evil 2.

Unknown Man: Appears to be some sort of aristocratic-type character and may be related to the second unnamed woman. It is unknown what side he is on, but odds are he is a bad guy.

Unknown Woman: Appears to be an aristocratic-type character and may be related to the unnamed man above. The syringe she his holding may contain the Progenitor Virus, insinuating that these two might have something to do with the outbreak of the Progenitor Virus plaguing the village.

Mystery Figure: A masked individual apparently working with the unnamed man and woman, perhaps as a body guard. The character's physique is distinctly female.

Leech Monster: Longtime RE fans are probably having a sense of deja-vu right now; this creature looks very similar to the dark mass that chased and eventually infected Leon in the original version of Resident Evil 4. Since that game revolved around the Progenitor Virus before being scrapped and Resident Evil 5 now features the virus, it is possible that this creature could be the origin of the virus, if not a creature created by it.

The Infected: The basic enemy of RE5, these people appear to be infected with some sort of parasite that attacks them through the hosts mouth. It is speculated that these creatures have some sort of connection to the Progenitor Virus. Like in RE4, there are versions of these enemies that can carry heavy weapons to attack Chris.

Dogs: Shown briefly in the second trailer, it is unknown if these animals are infected, feral, or just trained guard dogs

Since we are now getting more information on Resident Evil 5 I thought it would be good if we had a thread to compile all information on the game in one spot so as to reduce the number of repeat threads. That's cool !

Devil May Cry 4 Demo Available This Thursday (and on January 31st for Europe)

That’s right kids, you heard it here first: The Devil May Cry 4 demo you’ve heard about will be up on XBox Live and PlayStation Network this Thursday, January 24, 2008. We’re told to expect it up on XBox Live at 2am PST, and between 2 and 3pm PST on PlayStation Network. Europe will see the demo go live on January 31st.
Upside: this demo is actually fun.

( last version )

Downside: While there will be plenty of devil-bringification and even a pretty sweet boss battle against this guy (boss battles are definitely a major highlight of the full game), it is just a demo, and only scratches the surface of the DMC4 fun. Even if I weren’t shilling shamelessly for Capcom, I’d still have to say this is probably the best Devil May Cry ever.
Check it out Thursday, and read on for more details about the demo, and of course pick up the full game, available February 5th.

The demo introduces gamers to the gothic-inspired supernatural world of Devil May Cry 4, new protagonist Nero and the awesome power of his Devil Bringer. The demo consists of a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4’s varied locales and allows gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero’s unique abilities. Players will receive instruction on the various new actions that the Devil Bringer bestows, such as the ability to slam creatures to the ground, cover great distances in a single bound or even grab enemies while on the ground or in the air and pull them towards Nero to continue the attack combo. The Exceed system allows Nero to “rev up” his sword as if it were a motorbike throttle and unleash devastating attacks. Players will need to master all these techniques before the end of demo showdown with the mighty Berial.

( gameplay )

Fully demonstrating the power of the next generation of consoles, the Devil May Cry 4 demo brings to life the coastal city of Fortuna and its surroundings, such as the port and snow-capped mountain ranges in exquisite detail. Devil May Cry 4 delivers its intense action at a constant 60 frames per second at 720P resolution on HD monitors, ensuring seamless and breathtaking gameplay all in stunning high definition.
Ya , Nice!! I’m gonna play this demo so much that my PS3 will get the RROD :D It's so cool !!!!
